John Mayer in Manila – Canceled

I was hearing rumors that the much anticipated concert will be canceled if not postponed or moved to October. I didn’t want to believe it, but now – after checking John Mayer’s website, I am convinced that the rumor is right. On the tour page of his website, they removed the Manila schedule for May 16, and instead Manila was moved to the bottom of the page – scheduled for October 1st! This is a sad day for me… specially since we have our VIP tickets already. I was even checking out www.sleepingpillreviews.net because I was having a hard time sleeping with the excitement. But looks like it will not come to pass. I’ll just be contacting Channel V for confirmation and hopefully get my refund as soon as possible. Then, I’ll probably just buy that Martin DX1e guitar that I have been hunting for instead. At least that is a good thing…

The real cost of the John Mayer VIP tickets

My wife and I have been planning to travel somewhere for years now. We were discussing between going abroad or going to a famous vacation spot here. Could it be Hongkong or Singapore? Or maybe go to Boracay or Baguio City? If we were in the US, maybe we could checkout used travel trailers for a different experience in travelling. Bottomline is we just want to do something special. However since my wife bought those expensive John Mayer VIP tickets, I guess our travel / vacation was sacrificed and will have to wait. That is why I was surprised that she bought the tickets, because I was thinking she’d either get something for herself, or she’s saving up for a good vacation / travel. To be honest I would have preferred to use the money for a vacation myself – but that’s just because I’m stingy… I am grateful for having a wife that can make tough decisions haha. I was thinking of surprising her by using my Google Adsense earnings, but she already warned me not to. Oh well I hope John Mayer is not coming again next summer. Hehe.

I was wondering why my wife was so excited. She told me that Google recently updated their page rank list. And the good news is that my blogs now have PR. This blog now has PR 1. I was hoping for something higher but I’m glad it improved. Better page rank means better opportunities. So for those that are interested in PR, better check now!

Youtube’s new format

If you haven’t heard of it yet, Youtube had a quick trim, an “update”, if you would like to call it that. Basically what they did was to turn Youtube into a Facebook clone. They removed the Rating (Stars) system, and said that it was not working. They replaced it with the tried and tested Facebook “like/unlike” system. They also trimmed out most of the texts on the side of the videos, you’ll have to click on buttons to view information about the video. All in all, I couldn’t care less about the change as long as the videos are still there – but I believe this is a strong sign of Facebook’s current reign on the web.

I have been looking forward to John Mayer’s concert. But being the thrifty me, I was having second thoughts on getting any good seat tickets. My wife surprised me yesterday, that she bought 2 tickets for the best seats (VIP). Not only that but she got the first available seat after the sponsors, she was the first one in line when the tickets went on sale at Channel V’s office. When she told me that and showed me the ticket, I couldn’t believe it. All the time I thought she was planning to buy a new laptop for herself with her online income, but instead she opted to spend it on the ticket. Ofcourse it made my day, and right now I am so excited to get to the concert with her and experience something that only a few filipino’s could. That is great music from the main man live – John Mayer.

National Elections is fast approaching, and with that comes the politicians campaigning. What they do here, believe it or not, is use media. Whoever makes the most impression or becomes a house hold name, wins elections. So politicians use posters, banners, commercials on TV and the the most popular of all – they have cars equipped with loud speakers singing political campaigns to the tune of pop songs. Imagine listening to “Nobody Nobody But You” but with the lyrics changed to a local politician’s name, gives you the goose bumps right? I hope they checked on auto insurance quotes because there will be times that they will bump into a rival’s car and they will have a loud showdown of songs. It’s pretty annoying, but at times it’s also amusing. I hope that people would look beyond the media hype and really research on the candidates. That way we will have deserving elected officials.
