I’ve been on the day shift now for a few months and I’m so loving it. For the first time in many years I have been sleeping longer than four hours. I wake up refreshed and ready to work in the morning. I guess I won’t have to buy an eye cream for dark circles because I won’t be needing it. Working the night shift is really not for me and the past couple of years are proof of it. It doesn’t matter how long I stay during the night shift my body simply refuses to get accustomed to it. I just wish I can stay in day shift forever.

Pldt MyDSL review 2010

Pldt MyDsl is the worst ever internet connection and service that I have ever encountered in my life! I thought Globe had it bad, PLDT is even worse! I’ll divide my review into two parts – Internet Connection and Customer Service.

1. Internet Connection: S U P E R – S L O W! Unbelievable! We used to have Globe and we had “downtime” problems with them but at least the speed you get is equal to what they commited. When we switched to Smart Bro (the one with Antennae), everything was smooth sailing from the next day installation to the day we moved out of our apartment. Now that we moved and want to use this old PLDT account – I am utterly disgusted at the intermittent connection and the unbelievably slow download and upload speed. The plan claims to be at 1MBPs but I rarely get download above 20kbps, and most of the time, our internet connection is down. I was getting double the speed with our 384kbps SMART Bro connection!

2. Customer Service: Waste of time and money! Wait time at their support lines will take around 30 minutes to an hour. Reps don’t know what they are doing and have on many occassions put the phone down on me. I have also asked to speak with a supervisor countless times and I was only able to reach ONE! If you think that’s bad, try going to their business office! I waited for 3 hours to do a transfer of ownership. I have been asking for a month now for a technician to check our connection here at home but NOT ONE has shown up. At least in Globe they show up after 2 weeks!

Conclusion:
I want to give PLDT until July to show me that they are worth our money. The only reason I am keeping PLDT is because of the old Phone account that we’ve had for many years. But if this kind of service and connection goes on until July, we will definitely move to a greener pasture.

PLDT MyDSL: 1 out of 10 (I don’t even like the telephone, sound is too weak). If I were you, don’t even think about wasting a single Peso with this company – they seem to have forgotten what got them on the Telco business – their customers!

Laptop – the new tech craze

Laptops are the new tech trend here in Manila. It has successfully replaced the mobile phone craze. When before you would see people pulling out their phones, now you see people showing off their laptops. Just go to your nearest coffee shop and you will find people using their laptops to access wireless networks. Some are probably working, some are probably playing, while most are probably just showing off. Nowadays, it has become a must to own a laptop. Who wouldn’t want to when you can do virtually anything with it.

To keep or to give?

When we moved, we had the hard choice of either keeping our furniture or giving them away. The home we moved into had some furniture that is still useful, and we had to decide which to keep, our own or the existing ones. In the end we ended up with a mix of our own and existing furniture, and we let go of a lot of our stuff. It was quite a painful task to choose and I’m glad it’s done. We gave away the excess furniture to my relatives. Now maybe we just need outdoor cushions…

In this age where fast foods are the norm it comes as no surprise that people don’t get enough nourishment that their body needs. One indication is the staggering number of people becoming obese and dying of cardiovascular diseases. It is made worst by the lack of exercise that the people get. That’s why it’s so important that people get the vitamins they need even if in the form of supplements. Vitamins balance the body systems and if we don’t get enough of it the immune system is weakened and we are more susceptible to getting sick with colds, viruses, pneumonia, and others. Vitamins will make the body healthy and a healthy body will be able to fight off sickness. The high cost of prescription drugs and hospital bills are two more reasons why we should do all we can to make sure we’re healthy.

Business Opportunities

One thing that both my wife and I agreed on when we learned that we will be occupying my childhood house – is that there will be business opportunities. We brainstormed right then and there and talked about maybe putting up a computer shop, but we know that computer shop businesses are no longer doing well with the current high price of electricity and low price of home internet packages. We talked about having our own store – complete with our own barcode scanner, but we also know that there are already too many stores and even mini groceries where we live. We thought of putting up a dress shop or a toy store, and again there are already existing businesses. Oh well our quest to find a good business opportunity continues, and we pray that God will eventually guide us to one that will be successful and will fit us well.

Replacing the old

Finally we have successfully moved to our new home. After back breaking carrying of tons of stuff and driving for hours and hours – we have moved everything to our new home. The work did not end there though, our new “old” house needs a lot of fixes. We have replaced a lot of fixtures, removed old cabinets and repainted most of the house. Thank God that we have people like my uncle Ben helping us out with electrical and painting duties. Right now I’m looking to replace our old faucets, with maybe something like Moen faucets. At least now, we are done with the moving part.
