Have you heard about the DC Metro train accident? One Metro train crashed into the rear of another train last Monday evening. At least six people were killed and a number were injured as the front of one train jackknifed into the air and then crashed on top of the first train.

The DC Metro train accident must be a horrific sight as cars of both trains were ripped open and smashed together. In the past 33 years of Metrorail history, this is the worst accident that happened. The Fire Spokesman of the District of Columbia, Alan Etter said that his crew had to cut some people out just to remove them from the wreckage and described the scene as a “mass casualty event.” Rescuers have to use steel ladders to help survivors from the wreckage.
As of today, Mayor Adrian Fenty, Mayor of DC said that sixwere already confirmed dead. Seventy-six were treated with injuries and six are considered critical.
The DC Metro train accident occurred around 5 PM EDT and happened at Metro’s busiest red line. According to Metro chief John Catoe, the first train apparently stopped waiting for clearance from the station ahead when suddenly the second train smashed into it from behind.
